Nominations are now open for the 2026 Certificates of Achievement
Every year, thousands of volunteers in RAHS Affiliated Societies across New South Wales give their time, knowledge and passion to local and community history. They undertake important research projects, care for collections and archives, publish journals and books, organise events, preserve heritage places and keep their historical societies thriving.
The RAHS Certificates of Achievement honour and record the outstanding contributions of volunteers who strengthen local and community history across New South Wales. The awards recognise the depth and diversity of work being undertaken by Affiliated Societies across the state.
Certificates will be presented during a special RAHS Seminar at History House on 13 October 2026. Recipients are warmly invited to attend either in-person or online to receive their Certificate and celebrate with colleagues from Affiliated Societies across New South Wales.
We encourage every Affiliated Society to think about the people who make a real difference to your organisation. Whether they have spent decades leading your historical society, caring for collections, undertaking research, editing publications, advocating for local heritage or quietly working behind the scenes, this is your opportunity to recognise their contribution.
Nomination Criteria
Nominations should demonstrate one or more of the following:
- Comprehensive evidence of achievement.
- Quality of service.
- Significant support (financial or benefit-in-kind).
Learn about the 2025 recipients.
Who Can Nominate?
- Nominations must be submitted by a member of an RAHS Affiliate.
- They must be endorsed by the society through a general meeting, executive meeting or specially convened subcommittee.
- They must be signed by the President and Secretary (or another appropriate office bearer).
