Bertie and Hugh Wright Memorial Library in 1952. This was in appreciation and recognition of the longstanding honorary services of these two retired Chief Librarians, both longstanding members and Fellows of the RAHS. These gentlemen worked together 2 afternoons week for 10 years binding books, pamphlets; maps; other historical material; card cataloguing; dealing with hundreds small manuscripts; many odds and ends saving and listing so as readily found when required. Along with many other volunteers along the way, they put the society’s collection in order for the first time: organizing, examining and classifying all the materials accumulated during the Society’s first 40 years. The earliest known custodian of the collection was Frank Walker. The library’s collection today has grown and evolved from the donation and purchase of all this material gathered over nearly one hundred and ten years.
