RAHS Excursion – Sydney Tramway Museum

Wednesday 30 November 2022 | Meet at Gates at 10.20am for 10.30am Start

Corner Rawson Ave & Pitt St, Loftus NSW 2232

The Sydney Tramway Museum is Australia’s oldest tramway museum and the largest in the southern hemisphere. Join this excursion to see and explore the history of the trams and its network, ride the trams and relive the days of tram travel.

The site includes the Museum’s Display Hall, with its extensive collection of trams from Sydney and other cities in Australia and the world, the former Railway Square Sydney tramway shelter, and the gates from the original Gladesville Bridge. Our visit includes a guided tour of the Museum Display Hall and tram-rides. Facilities include a souvenir shop, kiosk and picnic area with electric BBQs if you would like to bring your own lunch.

The Museum is nestled in the southern Sydney suburb of Loftus, which adjoins the beautiful and expansive Royal National Park. It is easily reached either by car or train: there is limited parking in Pitt Street, other parking available along Rawson Avenue itself. The Museum is right next to Loftus railway station and the main entrance is just a short 5-minute walk from the station.
