Registrations have been extended to Friday, 9th March for the Glen Innes & District Historical Society Conference: Many Cultures – Our History. From 16-18 March join the Society at the Glen Innes Services Club for a weekend jam-packed with excellent speakers and topics. In addition to the Conference, there will also be three tours that coincide with the event so visitors can view the attractions in Glen Innes.

Speakers and topics include:

  • Harry White, Aboriginal history and language
  • Bill Oates, Scottish settlers and Celtic history
  • Robert Heather, How artists depicted us
  • Graham Wilson and Bill Oates, Old New England gardens seen through the eyes of the photographer
  • Janis Wilton, People, places and things in the history of the Chinese in New England
  • John Graham, Linking local history and genealogy research
  • Jacqui Newling, From haggis to hominy – transporting tastes to new territories
  • Eric Kopittke, German history
  • Larissa Townsend, Researching local families in the archives
  • Graeme Hosken, Keeping in touch – Correspondence in the Great War
  • Greg Alder, Museums without walls
