Built in the early 1950s to withstand all nature could throw at it, Lennox Head’s classic beach pavilion is under threat of demolition as part of Lennox Village Vision plans to update the village centre.
Ballina Shire Council’s August meeting approved works to renew infrastructure, modernise and streamline the streetscape and foreshore parks, including Lennox Park where the pavilion stands. According to Vision concepts, removal of the building will open up the park and provide improved views to the water from the street (Ballina Shire Council Lennox Village Vision concept plans 27.08.2020).
The well-used building hosts a lifetime of fond memories and cultural significance to the people of Lennox Head.
To assist Lennox Head Heritage Committee prepare a well-researched report to the community and Council, we seek your assistance and are keen to identify locations and images of other pavilions which have been retained, heritage listed, repurposed or demolished.
