History Week 2021 – From the Ground Up

About History Week

History Week is the annual, state-wide celebration of History organised by the History Council of New South Wales.

Initiated by the HCNSW in 1997, History Week is a fantastic opportunity for member organisations, large and small, throughout NSW to engage and educate the community about the vitality, diversity and meaning of History and its practice.

About History Week 2021

A diverse range of online events will be presented during History Week 2021!

The History Week Events Calendar is available to explore on the History Council of NSW website. Like and follow their social media so you can get updates on History Week 2021 events and register your interest.

This year’s theme is From the Ground Up.

We ask you – What kind of histories do we most need in our world today to heal the past and usher in fresh hope and possibility for the future?

This year’s events explore how histories can ‘return to the roots’ to strengthen the way we connect and care for one another and our communities.

They tell these stories through Histories of particular such as histories of place and environment including local, public, urban, architectural or environmental history or focus on people – family histories, Indigenous histories, fictional, cultural, social, medical or biographical history.

Let’s explore and celebrate history together!

History Week 2021 will be launched on the 3 September at 6:30 pm during the NSW Premier’s History Awards.

History Week 2021 will run from 4 – 12 September 2021.
