RAHS Excursion – Whispering Bones Tour

Visit the oldest cemetery in Australia and see the earliest European gravestone in Australia on its original site. Be enthralled with surprising but true tales of strange happenings in early Parramatta. Whose bodies were carried to the grave by the chain gang? Why was a funeral held for a leg? How and where were suicides buried? Which woman killed a policeman? Who was ‘Miss Sportly’? All will be revealed on this tour of the last resting place of 82 First Fleeters and many of their masters.

Details: Meet at the cemetery gates, junction of O’Connell and Aird Streets Parramatta, at 10.30 am on Sunday 16 April. Wear closed shoes and bring water and a hat. Duration 2 hours. Note: no toilets at the cemetery. Free parking for 2 hours in Westfield, Aird Street entrance.
