Wayne Kirkpatrick was the Managing Director of Thredbo Alpine Resort from 1984–89 when the resort hosted the 2nd Ski World Cup to ever be held in the southern hemisphere. Join Wayne for this 30th anniversary talk as he discusses the initiatives taken by key figures in securing FIS consent to hold the event at Thredbo.

Wayne will talk about the challenges faced in Australia’s first and only tilt at hosting the event and the international exposure gained from it at a critical time in Thredbo’s development. This talk will be accompanied by unique film footage from the World Cup.

About the speaker: Wayne Kirkpatrick is currently Chairman of Tourism Snowy Mountains and Director of Destination Southern NSW.
