Recording and Preserving Precious Memories

August 28 @ 11:00 am - 1:00 pm

$32 – $35

This event is in partnership with WEA Sydney

The memories of older family members and friends add greatly to our understanding of the past. Those with links to local community organisations, such as societies, clubs and groups, also have their stories to tell. In this session Pauline Curby will discuss how the memories of family members and others can be recorded and preserved by drawing on both the techniques used by oral historians and modern day technology.

About the speaker:

Pauline Curby has worked as a freelance professional historian since the early 1990s and has undertaken consultancies in oral history, environmental history and heritage, as well as writing a number of commissioned histories. Her publication, Randwick, won the NSW Premier’s Awards (Regional and Community History), 2010. Pauline was the recipient of the NSW History Fellowship 2011 and is a member of the Professional Historians Association (NSW & ACT).
