Callan Park incorporates many layers of archaeological, Aboriginal, historical, cultural and environmental heritage. It contains many significant heritage buildings, including the original houses (1839 and 1842) of the two estates on which it is based; and the magnificent Kirkbride Block, completed in 1885 for the Callan Park Psychiatric Hospital (now the campus of Sydney College of the Arts).
Please meet at Writing NSW (formerly NSW Writers’ Centre), Callan Park. Follow the signs from the Main Gate at the intersection of Cecily and Darling Streets, Rozelle.
Please note: This 90-minute walking tour will consist of terrain without paths, so comfortable walking shoes and a moderate level of fitness is required. Public transport is advised (buses 445 and 440 go along Darling Street, Rozelle or the light rail) as there is limited parking at Writing NSW.[*FOCP: Friends of Callan Park.]
