Banjo Paterson’s Waltzing Matilda is known worldwide; many Australians can recite a string of his poems; and his work has been converted to song and theatre. What better way to celebrate this great Australian’s life and work than through a Festival in the district in which he was born.
Molong Historical Society invites you to an afternoon tea at the Old Woolshed (built 1848) at Gamboola, 3306 Mitchell Highway Molong on Saturday 15 February 2020. From 2pm you can enjoy a tour of the Old Woolshed, an afternoon tea and a live sheep sheering exhibition.
Orange & District Historical Society invites you to Twilight with Banjo at Banjo Paterson Park, on Ophir Road on Monday 17 February. Commencing from 6pm, the event will feature talks on Banjo and the Park’s history, live poetry and music, and a barbecue.
Orange & District Historical Society also invites you to An Evening with Banjo – His Life as part of their ongoing History Alive series. Benjamin Linder will be discussing his new book, Waltzing Matilda: Australian’s Accidental Anthem, a forensic history of the events, the people and the places that led to the writing of Australia’s internationally famous song.
