The Royal Australian Historical Society, in conjunction with Orange City Library, will be hosting another of our popular regional seminars.
The theme will be ‘Digging Deeper into Our History’ and will appeal to anyone interested in learning about Australian history as well as practical skills and strategies to conduct your own historical research.
Whether you want to know more about your convict ancestor, the early land tenure of your community, or simply want to know where to look, this regional seminar will leave you inspired and informed.
- Associate Professor Carol Liston will present a session on accessing and using land title records from the new Historic Land Records Viewer (HLRV) – an online resource that allows access to records from as early as 1791.
- Dr Kathrine Reynolds will discuss her tips for organising your research and storing data using case studies from her convict research.
- RAHS President Christine Yeats will explore her strategies for digging deeper into the National Library of Australia’s Trove – a free and expanding resource with access to newspapers, gazettes, diaries and letters.
- Carol Liston, Kathrine Reynolds and Christine Yeats will present a joint session on criminal court records from the UK and NSW.
