History House has function rooms for hire

An intimate period venue for private business functions, seminars, meetings, cocktail parties, dinners, soirees, high teas, product and book launches.  

Are you looking for a venue with a difference? History House at 133 Macquarie Street in the city is the perfect location for your special function. Home of the Royal Australian Historical Society, the house was built in the 1870s as an upper middle-class Victorian gentleman’s residence. The building has old-world charm and elegance with well-proportioned Victorian era rooms. After a major renovation in 2010, we can offer several rooms for hire - a state of the art auditorium and two interconnecting reception rooms. All rooms have disabled access, are airconditioned and each may hold up to 60 people.

Auditorium - This newly renovated multi-purpose centre with the latest in audio-visual technology, is suitable for a diverse range of community, private and commercial activities, such as meetings, functions, conferences, workshops and lectures. It has wireless connectivity, tables and chairs, lectern, microphone, sound system, projection facilities and air-conditioning.

Reception Rooms - These rooms are a reflection of the Victorian era with ornate timber work and cornices. Elegant and well-proportioned, they feature a grand piano and period furniture.

Catering  -  A fully-equipped kitchen is located between both the auditorium and the reception rooms for self catered functions.
Toast Food located in our basement level is the recommended caterer for History House.  For a catering quote, please phone 9241 7300. Other commercial caterers are welcome

Location:  Ideally located close to the heart of Sydney, major rail stations, and overlooking the Botanic Gardens.  Parking station is located next door.

Daily Rate (9am-5pm)                                    $400 + GST

After Hours (5pm-10pm)                                $55 ph. + Security Fee + GST

Weekends

Per hour (min 2 hour booking)                        $60 ph. + Security Fee+ GST
