Bayliss Panorama of Sydney in 1879
The Bayliss Panorama was taken by photographer Charles Bayliss from the roof of the Garden Palace when it was under construction in July-August 1879. It comprises eleven images two of which are reproduced here in digitised form. Clearer photographic reproductions may be ordered from the Royal Australian Historical Society.
These negatives, presented to the RAHS by Bayliss's widow, were the first items of note to be acquired by the RAHSand still hold pride of place in its collections.
